Summerton's Summer Summary 2013
My annual look at the summer (May through Aug) movies of 2013!
My annual look at the summer (May through Aug) movies of 2013!
The GPC returns to close out the summer blockbuster month that is August with, well, something a little different. Join me and many others as I tackle one of my favourite movies about movies, Tropic Thunder!
This is easily my most daring episode yet, both creatively and, well, from a bravery and confidence standpoint.
Also, there is swearing, but the movie is chock full of that so it was unavoidable. As such, time to take 'em off the fuckin' grid!
Big huge thanks to everyone who helped out, be sure to check them out too! Starch and the guys from The Isle of Rangoon, Matt from Wreckless Eating, Midnight Corey from The Electric Chair Show, Jason from Triskaidekafiles, John and Michael J from The Morbidly Made, Dustin Starr, and especially my friends Earl, Russ, James and Mark.
You might have heard me on The Morbidly Made a few times... or a lot of times actually, and that's because John Rhoades and Michael J are awesome friends of mine. You may have even heard them as Control in my Judge Dredd review too!
Well, this whole Action vs Violence week was done in part with them, since the topic is one I've had in mind for a long long time, and to help them out to boot what with their production schedules, so I co-hosted episode 15!
Like I said I've had this topic in mind for a long time, so this was a bit of a passion piece for me, so I can't thank them enough for the outlet.
Here's the rest, taken from the YouTube description. Check it out!
We kick things off discussing Michael J's journey into "Production Hell". After that John talks about issues with his job and computer. All of these issues have prevented us from doing the show, and now that they are resolved things should get more regular. Then, Scott Summerton (Guilty Pleasures Cinema), who joins us as co-host, talks about upcoming projects as well as an upcoming collaboration with John. Also, a possible competition is addressed.
After a break, John and Scott get into a discussion of ratings. That puts to task the fairness of ratings and why certain films get the ratings they do.
Be sure to stay tuned till the end of the show for a special announcement, you won't want to miss! All that and more in this jam packed episode!
The GPC returns with the Guilty Pleasures Test!
A little stripped down from its last outing, here we conclude Action vs Violence week with an action movie that looks like a can't miss buddy comedy, Bending the Rules, starring WWE superstar Edge!
Action vs Violence week continues here at the GPC with a TTOCS focusing on violence for violence sake: RoboCop 2!
